This truck lock with a very robust design will allow you to quickly secure your handling devices on castors.
The main difference compared to a castor with a brake is that the pad is very easily accessible for the operator as it will be located in front of them under the cart. Therefore, you only need to press a single pedal to lower the soft rubber pad to the ground. Its high coefficient of grip will firmly secure the cart in place even on a slight slope. The braking will be superior compared to the braking of a wheel with a hard tread because the ground contact area is very significant: a total contact area of 30 cm². For a classic castor of 160 mm in diameter, the ground contact area is 7.5cm². The coefficient of grip of a hard tread is approximately 2 times less significant than that of the rubber pad. This corresponds to 8 castors braked at the same time.
The classic brake of a castor pivots with it, so it is not always easy to reach it to secure the whole unit.
The effort required is relatively low even with high loads because the pad does not lift the cart; indeed, the pedal will activate the descent of the pad, but once it begins to contact the ground, it is the spring that will take over to firmly press the whole unit down.
The thickness of the plate is 20 mm, which is extremely sturdy. The unlocking pedal is made of 6 mm folded sheet metal.
This product can be used in many environments such as automotive or aerospace industries for metal pallets towed by forklifts.
It is advisable to install these castors at a height between 198 mm and 202 mm in total (castor in the folded position). Ideally, we recommend installing it at 198 mm for very heavy loads (around 1 ton) and 202 mm for moderate loads (200 to 300 kg).
The ideal compression is 5 mm in total, achieved with a force of 80 kg vertically. The pad should be installed at a height of 200 mm to do this. The force to be applied with the foot does not exceed 20 kg with the lever arm. All our castors with a total height of 200 mm are compatible. If the castor has a greater height, you just need to make a suitable wedge to compensate for the height.
To fully compress the spring, a pressure of 200 kg (10 mm of compression) must be applied.
