DIRECTIONAL BLOCKING FOR Castor S80

This device is an external and additional directional brake, specifically designed to be mounted on the casters of our manual crank lifting stands reference 60862. Unlike a standard wheel brake that locks the rotation of the wheel itself, this system aims to lock the pivoting of the caster, temporarily turning it into a fixed caster to ensure straight movement. It is independent of any wheel brake that may already be present or added.

• Installation and Fixing:

  • The directional brake is designed to be fixed directly onto the top mounting plate of the caster (the rectangular or square plate that bolts to the equipment).
  • It can be attached with screws or bolts passing through holes provided on the brake and the plate, or by a compatible clamping system.

• Actuation Mechanism:

  • It incorporates a lever (often foot-operated or hand-operated) or another visible actuation mechanism, allowing the user to engage or disengage the brake.
  • When this mechanism is activated, a pin, latch, or movable arm extends.

• Locking Point:

  • The locking element fits precisely into a slot (or notch) located on the mount (the yoke) of the caster.
  • These slots are usually machined into the upper part of the yoke, just below the pivoting plate.

• Specific Action:

  • The insertion of the pin/latch into the slot has the effect of locking the pivoting movement of the caster. The caster is then forced to maintain a fixed orientation (generally straight, parallel to the equipment frame).
  • This action is distinct from locking the rotation of the wheel. The goal is to guide the equipment in a straight line, not to completely immobilize it (although it helps with stability).
